Different Season Performance Testing Results
Kumho Ecsta PA15 Review: Dry Tarmac Performance
While testing the Kumho Ecsta PA15 on the dry track, I was satisfied with the grip and cornering provided by the Ecsta PA51. It maintained its traction on the track, although it did exhibit slightly more understeer compared to its rivals.
Furthermore, the lap time of just 50.45 seconds exceeded my expectations. Not only did it perform admirably on dry tarmac, but it also outperformed most of its competitors.
The strengthened inner and outer tread blocks with high grip resins and stiffness compound enhances the dry grip of the Kumho Ecsta PA15. Moreover, the larger contact patch adds the cherry on top by making the tire more stable.
The tire’s exceptional lateral grip not only enabled smooth and controlled turns at moderate speeds but also provided superior throttle handling capabilities when compared to its competitors such as Fuzion, Riken, and Sumitomo.
While the Kumho Ecsta PA15 may not deliver the same level of performance on high-performance sports cars and it may fall slightly behind in terms of grip and could potentially show that difference on track days.
Kumho Ecsta PA51 Review: Snow And Ice Performance
Although you cannot expect a very good performance out of most ultra high performance tires on snow. The Kumho Ecsta PA51 performs moderately well on dry and wet surfaces indicating that its compound seems more leaned toward non winter performance tires.
Well, let’s test out to get better ins on whether would it be the right choice even for light snow? The traction and breaking were exceptional thanks to the zig-zag inboard groove. The full depth sipes have also played a major role in providing sufficient biting edges for traction in snow and on ice.
The lateral grip felt very compromised as even at slow speeds the tires lost control and the car fishtailed. It took a long time to recover back to the track from a skit or slide.
The Kumho Ecsta pa51 is not very reliable when it comes to snow. Even the ice traction was not capable enough or near to any winter tires.
Kumho Ecsta PA51 Review: Wet Performance
While testing the Kumho Ecsta PA51 in the wet track it did not surprise me but it provided gentle traction. My only fear with the Kumho Ecsta PA51 was whether it would hydroplane and thankfully it did not hydroplane thanks to the four large channels which did initially catch my eyes as I saw the tire.
Kumho has successfully prioritized the wet traction of the Kumho Ecsta PA51 which is evident with its full depth sipes and lateral grooves which enhance the handling on wet tarmac and make it better than most of its predecessors.
The Kumho Ecsta PA51, unfortunately, falls short in terms of braking distances, resulting in longer stopping distances. This compromise in safety can be felt when driving aggressively or at higher speeds.
The Kumho Ecsta PA51 holds the ground securely and does not slip. Although it is not one of the best UHP tires when it comes to wet tarmac but yes it does decently perform well in the city and highways.
As far as tracks are concerned pushing the Kumho Ecsta PA51 might not give you a strong level of confidence. Although if you are someone who is not so much into circuits you would get the partial feel of a UHP all season tire.
If you compare the Kumho Ecsta PA51 with the renowned brands Kumho Ecsta PA51 might not be the ideal contender against them but it does secure a good position than most of the other cheap brands.
Kumho Ecsta PA51 Review: Off Roading Performance
The Kumho Ecsta PA51 gives a tough time to most of its competitors when it comes to off roading. The majority of the UHP tires cannot resist rough tarmac as they tend to lose their capabilities while also wearing out prematurely.

I found that the Kumho Ecsta PA51 is a quiet tire and you can expect a smooth ride from it. It isolates the cabin even the road bumps usually go unheard. As the road noise is pretty low you can expect comfort. Ideally, comfort does depend on noise but yes there are other aspects to it as well.
The variable pitch design technology plays a major role in providing comfort even at high speeds. It also lowers road harmonics making the tires quieter.
The tires handle shocks from potholes and bumps seamlessly, making rough roads feel comfortable. Vibration is also not noticeable.

If you are a spirited or aggressive driver tire then the Kumho Ecsta PS71 would not be the right choice for you. Although if you are looking for mid range performance, durable UHP tires while also compromising on snowy days then this might be the ideal choice provided its low budget price tag.
