For drivers seeking a tire that delivers commendable traction and handling in diverse weather conditions, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is the ultimate solution. With its all-around consistent performance, this tire is the perfect choice for those in search of a single tire to meet all their needs.

Most all-season tires put emphasis on dry and wet climates, which tends to reduce traction and reliability in cold weather. But with continental extreme contact DWO6 plus, continental has taken a unique approach.

Through extensive testing in large blocks of heavily settled snow, I was just impressed by the ample grip and stability that it provided. Despite encountering some slight spinning in the back tire, the overall experience was remarkably effortless.

Driving On Snow

Whereas while testing on rainy days and dry conditions, the tires performed well, as expected from most all-season tires. However, the true excitement came when I experienced the unparalleled level of traction that this tire provided, leaving me in awe of its impressive capabilities and securing its position as the top choice in my testing.

The Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus has received high ratings from consumers as well as experts for its tread wear. As these tires have been designed 3 – 6 pounds lighter in their segment, they improve the fuel efficiency of the car and also result in reduced wear and tear.

As compared to the previous version, continental has improved its dry handling with higher silica content which was long awaited. This plus version offers a more comfortable and excellent ride quality with its softer sidewalls and optimized tread pattern, making it a significant improvement over the previous models.

Thanks to the continentals + silane tread compound technology which not only enhances the grip but also provides shorter braking distances. Whether it’s raining, muddy or gravel on the roads, these tires just prove to stand out and provide impressive stability and control.

Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 plus steps way ahead of all its competitors with its rapid steering response, increased durability and quieter ride. The continental extreme contact is a perfect match when it comes to Subaru Impreza.

  • UTQG – 500 AA A

If you are looking for a decent all-season ultra-high-performance tire, then this might be for you. Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS + has been in the market for five years now, but to date, they are just irreplicable. With their spectacular grip and stability, they just stick to the ground and make you enjoy and feel every wheel spin.

On testing, the dry traction was just amazing, while the wet and light snow traction effectively channeled water and slush away from the tire’s contact patch providing impressive handling.

This tire sets itself in the second position due to more than usual time to break in before they actually perform and slight road noise on certain types of concrete pavements. Although it is not very much noticeable, but it can potentially reduce overall driving comfort.

Apart from its exceptional and reliable performance, the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS+ offers a competitive price, making it an excellent option for drivers.

Bridgestone’s latest model, the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS+, has been designed with a significant improvement over its predecessor by incorporating larger tire shoulder blocks, increased biting edges, and more sipes resulting in improved traction and handling capabilities

With the multi-radius tread design kicking in, this tire offers unmatched ride comfortable. It comes with a 50k limited mileage warranty which I think should have been more as compared to that of its competitors.

When you meet the snow, you need the extra grip. So to know if this tire meets my winter expectation. The Michelin pilot sport all season 4 was put into the test, and I could undeniably review them as the nicest and easiest to drive on with exceptional handling performance.

Although, while comparing it with its competitors on snow, the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus and Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS+ it was not the fastest as it secured third position, but it was definitely the most gracious and enjoyable to drive. If you are going on snow drifting, get yourself a pair of these without thinking twice.

This tire is backed by the Variable Contact Patch 3.0 technology, which distributes pressure evenly across the tire’s contact patch and helps in providing better grip and improved handling in all types of weather conditions, making it better than the previous version Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+.

Driving through Snow

Moreover, while testing the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 on both dry and wet surfaces, I was happy and satisfied with the exceptional performance, providing ample grip and stability, making it a versatile option for both types of weather conditions.

This tire stands out among most of the performance all-season tires due to its superior breaking even at high speeds. On breaking the car at 90 mph, I felt the instant stopping power which was quite surprising, thanks to the unique compound and tread pattern work which surely make it a performance tire with high-speed stability.

Its comfort, handling, traction, and durability make it a top choice among drivers. Moreover, it also comes with a 45,000 miles-life warranty. What bothered me a bit is that it is slightly noisy when you hit the concrete road. I did wish it to be quitter on the concrete.

Pros

  • Superior braking at high speeds
  • Variable Contact Patch 3.0 technology
  • Comfortable, durable, and versatile.

Cons

  • Slightly noisy on concrete.

The Continental PureContact LS is the best all-season budget tire. It offers a great balance between performance, comfort and safety, making it the best for touring.

On testing these tires in heavy rain and a dry afternoon, I experienced that the traction was really good and felt smooth thanks to the Continental PureContact LS’s deep grooves. It does not slip and gives a great steering response. It provides a decent amount of traction even in mild snow and other challenging weather conditions. If you are someone who loves touring around the year, then this might be the right choice for you.

The EcoPlus™ Technology in this tire sets itself apart from its predecessors. It offers impressive fuel efficiency, shorter stopping distances on wet surfaces, and an extended tread life that can rival its competitors.

Moreover, if you live in an area with extreme weather conditions, the Continental Pure Contact LS may not be the best choice for you, as it is not specifically designed to handle such conditions.

Bridgestone Turanza Quiet Track

5. Bridgestone Turanza Quiet Track

BEST TOURING ALL WEATHER

  • Warranty: 80,000-Mile Tread Wear Warranty
  • Tire Type: Passenger Tire
  • Sidewall: Black Sidewall
  • Tread Depth – 9/32″ – 10/32″
  • UTQG – 800 A A

The Bridgestone Turanza Quiet Track is designed for someone whose looking for a comfortable and safe driving experience all year round. Despite being a bit pricey they are honestly one of the grippiest tires I have come across. I am happy with how these tires perform.

I have driven around with many sets of tires, but these are exceptional and no doubt that it resembles its name and provides a swift and quiet drive. Especially on the highways, these tires make you feel the amazing steering response even at high speeds and steep corners. The tires feel stable and smooth. But that said, these tires have been made for touring, and they are not built for aggressive and high-speed performance. The tread life is highly durable.

The tire offers an asymmetric tread pattern which Is why they provide excellent handling and sturdy grip while also enhancing wet traction. The Turanza quiet track has an insane amount of sipping density as compared to all the other touring all seasons, which is what makes these tires provide huge traction capabilities.

Consumers were expecting improved wet traction and reduced noise in the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus.

Cheers to Bridgestone that they addressed these concerns and added the combination of non-chamfered shoulder slots and optimized pitch sequencing features, which have reduced airborne noise, while the round footprint allows for better cutting through standing water, ultimately leading to improved wet traction

In my point of view, these tires are capable of all seasoning undoubtedly. But when it comes to extreme snow, they fumble down a bit. Although the siped rubber provides traction, but the stiff compounds tend to become stiffer and result in loss of traction.

Pros

  • Excellent grip and handling.
  • Durable tread life.
  • Improved wet traction.

Cons

  • Not an ideal tire for snow.
  • Not advisable high-performance driving.

  • UTQG – 640 B A

The Michelin Cross Climate 2 is a true standout. The Michelin CrossClimate 2 is not just a game changer but it also surpasses its competitors, setting a new standard for everyday driving.

This tire offers the best of both worlds with its outstanding performance on dry and wet roads, as well as in mild winter conditions. It’s an ideal choice for drivers who want to experience a smooth, comfortable and pleasant ride. Due to the absence of circumferential grooves I thought that the tire would fall short in the wet tarmac but the Michelin Cross Climate 2 proved me wrong.

The Michelin cross climate is designed with spectacular traction. I fear driving in all weathers when it comes to intense winter, but with these on, I am rest assured that I will make it home safely.

subaru impreza mounted with cross climate 2 in extreme winter

The Michelin CrossClimate 2, an improved version of its predecessor, features a V-shaped tread pattern and EverGrip technology that offers grooves and biting edges for improved handling, grip, and stability.

It also offers exceptional performance and comfort. The only flaw that I felt on the go was a mild noise which is what made me hesitant. However, as the tires wear down and settle, the noise drastically decreases.

Pros

  • Ideal for daily drivers.
  • Improved V-shaped tread pattern.
  • Impressive traction.

Cons

  • Mild noise.

If you live in a place where it snows densely, this might be the right pair for you. Upon testing the continental in the dense bank of snow and ice condition, I was just amazed by the incredible traction they provide and how swiftly they perform, thanks to their soft compound and 3d sipes that improve the ice performance of the Continental Viking Contact 7 .

While the tires performed decently on dry surfaces during testing, they took slightly longer to stop.

Based on my extensive experience driving on dry surfaces, I can say that this tire performed decently during testing. However, it did take slightly longer to stop than some other tires in its category.

The Viking Contact 7 pleasantly surprised me with its performance on a rainy day. I didn’t expect it to perform so well, as most winter tires struggle in wet conditions. However, these tires exceeded my expectations and delivered outstanding results.

The Continental Viking Contact 7, has been designed with a specialized Nordic compound, which significantly improves braking power and the grip from its previous Continental winter models, resulting in flawless performance.

The combination of the Viking Contact 7 and the Impreza is unbeatable in winter conditions. With the Impreza’s precise steering and the Viking Contact 7’s exceptional traction in the snow, you can fully enjoy your winters.

The viking doesn’t fail to impress with its insane amount of traction and gliding into the snow, making it better than its competitors overall.

With these tires on, I wish the winters stayed year-long. Although if you’re someone who lives in moderate temperatures and does not experience high amounts of snow, I would recommend you to go for the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus all seasons as this would not just be light on your pockets but would also make you get rid of the stress of storing different season tires and fixing them from season to season.

The improved traction and stability allowed for confident and slip-free acceleration. Furthermore, even the passenger seated in the next was impressed with the tire’s capabilities and remarked that their performance was a good sign. Overall, these tires ranked second in my evaluation of winter tires due to their exceptional performance.

The softer blocks and ample siping of the Blizzak WS90 provide superior grip and handling in icy and snowy conditions, making it a better performer compared to most winter tires.

Although the Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 tires perform exceptionally well in snowy weather, but they are not recommended for areas with frequent dry conditions or damp roads. The lack of braking traction on dry conditions or damp surfaces is a potential drawback with these tires. Moreover, some users have reported that the tread on the Blizzak WS90 wears down faster than expected.

Pros

  • Excellent grip and braking
  • Soft blocks and ample siping
  • Superior performance on snow

Cons

  • Tread wears down faster
  • Not recommended for dry or damp roads

While these tires may not be designed specifically for track use, I was pleasantly surprised by their performance during testing on the track. Even at a pressure of 36 PSI, the tires provided a commendable level of traction and stability. I was particularly impressed by the fact that they did not overheat and lose grip, a common issue with tires in this price range.

Overall, Firestone has done an exceptional job of creating a tire that can perform well both on and off the track without compromising performance even on uneven terrains.

Firestone has enormously improved this tire when compared to the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval AS. The Firestone firehawk indy 500 comes with a whopping enhanced silica long-link carbon tread rubber, which improves the dry and wet grip of the tire.

While I appreciate the performance of the Firestone tires, I do have a small wish that the company would place more emphasis on quality control. At the same time, the missing protective lip for the wheel may be a huge turndown for most drivers.

Furthermore, these tires have major room for improvement when it comes to dry performance while cornering and high wear and tear rate. The lack of a mileage warranty is certainly disappointing. All things considered, it’s worth taking a closer look at your options before making a final decision on these tires.

Pros

  • Good performance on and off the track.
  • Improved dry and wet grip.
  • No overheating or loss of grip during testing.
