Charter Flight Lands Safely Despite Tire Burstout While Landing
Latest News – A charter flight with ten passengers successfully landed in the Northwest Arctic Borough. The landing took a terrifying turn when the caravan plane’s tire burst while arriving from the Red Dog Mine in Buckland. This caused the aircraft to deviate from the runway during touchdown.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as confirmed by David Olson, Bering Air spokesperson. In an email statement, Olson mentioned that the main tire had deflated upon landing, resulting in the plane pulling off the runway with only minor damage.
Passengers Take On The Incident
Passenger Richard Ballot, in the midst of sharing his concern for everyone’s safety, expressed hope that everyone would be unharmed during the incident titled “charter flight lands safely despite tire burstout while landing.” Ballot recounted the intense moments, highlighting how the pilot made a valiant effort to keep the plane on the runway before it unexpectedly veered off into nearby bushes.
“We were bouncing along the runway smoothly. About a quarter of the way down, the right tire suddenly burst, causing us to quickly veer to the right. We were still moving at a high speed,” Ballot explained.
Reflecting on the incident, Ballot expressed his gratitude for escaping unscathed and stated that he hoped never to experience such a landing again.
“It feels like a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence,” Ballot added.
