Much more rounded shoulders and asymmetrical tread design contribute to the aesthetic appeal while enhancing overall performance. Despite the slightly noticeable edge guard, which ideally should be inconspicuous, it undeniably adds to the aesthetic appeal. 

The Ultra-High-Performance (UHP) all-season tire, designed with special attention by Continental, truly shines when it comes to handling. Key features like the high-strength double-layered sidewall and larger blocks enhance the tire’s handling, offering a smoother and more controlled driving experience.

Well, to make the tire versatile, Continental had to also have properties to resist wet and light snow while keeping in mind that sweeping lateral grooves and longitudinal grooves were placed to help channel water and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Moreover, the interlocking sipes create additional biting edges and tread grooves for better snow traction.

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus also has got a unique blend of sunflower oil and silica, specially formulated to enhance its performance even in frigid temperatures.

The maintenance indicators for the tires are carried out from the previous version and are easily readable. The DWS stands for Dry, Wet, and Snow. If you frequently participate in track days and are considering road tires, transitioning to summer tires would be a highly viable and strongly recommended option. On testing the dws06+ alongside the Continental ExtremeContact Force 200tw extreme performance track-focused tire, not only did the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus exhibit longer braking distances, but it also resulted in slower lap times compared to the track-focused tire. 

However, the dws06+ excels in year-round road performance, and it manages to counterbalance its missed track performance by leaving behind the Continental ExtremeContact Force 200tw with over 60% better snow handling, as well as over at least 200% better in traction and durability.

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus proves to be a reliable choice for year-round use in performance cars on regular roads. Ultra-high-performance tires usually lack traction when it comes to snow. But the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus is comparatively better in terms of snow. While driving through light snowy roads, the tire impressed me by staying firm on the track without slipping, thanks to the traction track technology, which creates a connection with the road surface, effectively gripping and penetrating the snow for optimal performance.

With the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus, you will not have to fear losing the track or breaking on signals. I was also satisfied when the tire, even on steep turns, did not lose traction and provided the performance that it’s built for, which is exceptional for a UHP all-season tire. 

While this all-season tire is impressive, it’s important to note that it can’t still match the performance of dedicated winter tires. If you reside in areas with harsh winter conditions and you have extreme places to be, then it’s advisable to opt for specialised winter tires. However, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus excels in light snowfall, even up to 1-2 inches, as long as you exercise caution.

During the track testing, Continental Tire performed admirably, securing the third position among its competitors in the UHP all-season category, which is quite commendable. This achievement implies that while the tire may not be specifically designed for snow track performance, it may result in higher wet and dry conditions, which is definitely a notable advantage for this revised edition of the Continental tire.

True to the reputation of the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus, it not only performed impressively on the wet track but also proved its authority by securing the first position. 

Throughout the test, the tire’s grooves truly deserve recognition for their outstanding water channeling capabilities, resulting in an exceptional persistence to hydroplaning. It almost felt as if the tire defied the very concept of hydroplaning altogether.

While conducting the test, I was truly amazed by the performance of the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus tire, as it not only secured the first position but also gave tough competition to all four contenders.

When driving along wet roads in the city, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus responded with agility and confidence, showcasing its authority. It felt as if driving on dry pavement rather than a wet surface. The tire provided a firm and responsive ride.

Ultra high-performance tires are specifically made for paved roads and are not intended for off-roading. Nevertheless, it’s important to understand that these tires are not manufactured to withstand the demands of off-roading. Continued use in such conditions can cause the tires to lose their original characteristics and compound, which can potentially affect their performance on regular roads.
