Roan Mountain, TN — Fatal Crash Claims Two Lives on Roan Mountain Highway 19E at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, they have identified the victims as Timothy Mayse, 42, and Kerri Whitehead, 22.
Preliminary reports indicate that Mayse was driving a Ford Taurus northbound on Highway 19E with Whitehead as a passenger. When the vehicle crossed the center line, colliding with a southbound Toyota Sienna driven by Robert Brinkley II, 56. Brinkley sustained injuries in the accident.
Investigation findings suggest that a potential right rear tire failure on the Ford Taurus may have caused Mayse to lose control of the vehicle, leading to the collision with the Toyota. The impact occurred on the passenger side door of the Taurus.
