Flint’s Recycling Tire Buyback Event to pay citizens $1 for each tire

The City of Flint is trying to improve the appearance of the area by reducing the amount of discarded tires left lying around. To achieve this, the city is offering residents the opportunity to sell their old tires at a buyback event on Saturday, May 13.

Residents who participate will receive $1 for each tire they bring, up to a maximum of 25 tires per person, or $25 for a load of 25 tires or more. To participate, residents must show proof that they live in the area.

The event only accepts auto and light truck tires, and commercial vehicles are not allowed. The disposal event of tire is only for residents, and it will take place at the Environmental Rubber Recycling on 6515 N. Dort Highway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sheldon Neeley, the mayor of Flint, believes that removing blight from neighbourhoods can help reduce crime and create safer and healthier places for children to grow up in. By participating in events like the tire buyback the residents will be able to properly dispose of their old tires and contribute to recycling efforts.

Participating in events like the tire buyback can enable residents to have a positive effect on their community’s standard of living.
