Intoxicated Man Leads Police on a Dramatic Pursuit in Moses Lake
Latest News From Moses Lake Incident: An intoxicated individual took law enforcement on a wild pursuit through the city’s streets. At approximately 1:15 a.m., an alert officer narrowly avoided a head-on collision with an SUV in the Basin Homes area.
Concerned by the SUV’s aggressive driving, the officer initiated a stop, but the driver ignored the order. Thus, a pursuit started, with the suspect vehicle evading capture even after encountering two sets of spike strips, causing all three tires to deflate.
In a desperate attempt to evade authorities, the suspect suddenly jammed the brakes, hoping to cause a collision with the pursuing patrol cars. However, the officers skillfully employed various intervention techniques, ultimately forcing the vehicle to come to a halt near the intersection of Stratford Road and Stone Road.
Throughout the chase, the perpetrator led the police on a suspenseful route, racing from Basin Homes into Cascade Valley before circling back up Valley towards Stratford. Once the vehicle stopped, the suspect made efforts to escape on foot. However, the officers apprehended and arrested the individual, identified as 54-year-old John Gill from Moses Lake.
Authorities subsequently booked Gill into the local jail, charging him with DUI, attempted vehicular assault, and attempting to elude the police. During a search, officers discovered 50 fentanyl pills in Gill’s possession. This intense incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by intoxicated drivers, and the commendable efforts of law enforcement to protect the community.
