Nexen Tire Joins UN for Sustainable Business Practices
Nexen tire a top tire manufacturer, has officially announced its collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). This partnership focuses on promoting responsible and sustainable business practices.
The UNGC is an international agreement that encourages companies to take social and environmental responsibilities seriously. It aims to bring together a global community to achieve sustainable development. Currently, more than 20,000 organizations from 162 countries have already joined this initiative.
As a member of the UNGC, Nexen tire promises to follow the organization’s 10 sustainability principles. These principles cover important areas like human rights, fair labour practices, protecting the environment, and preventing corruption.
The company wholeheartedly embraces its role in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, emphasizing its dedication to contributing to their achievement. Additionally, Nexen tire will provide annual reports on its progress through the Communication on Progress (CoP) platform.
To enhance its sustainability efforts, Nexen tire plans to establish a special committee dedicated to sustainable management. This committee will focus on implementing strategies related to environmental, social, and governance aspects at the company level. Nexen tire will also conduct assessments to identify and address any human rights risks both inside and outside the organization.
Travis Kang, the Global CEO of Nexen tire, expressed the company’s commitment to fulfilling its environmental and social responsibilities by adopting global standards for ESG practices. Kang stated, “As a member of the UNGC, we will continue to undertake various initiatives for sustainable growth and management.”
Yeon-chul Yoo, the Secretary-General of UNGC Network South Korea, acknowledged the importance of Nexen tire’s participation in the organization. Yoo commended the company’s efforts in using sustainable raw materials and expected Nexen tire to actively embrace and incorporate the UNGC’s principles into its corporate management approach.
