Race Halted as Tire Soars Over Crowd during Indianapolis 500
Wheel Guiders Latest News: During the Indianapolis 500, with less than 20 laps remaining, a collision between Felix Rosenqvist and Kyle Kirkwood resulted in Kirkwood’s rear left tire bouncing off the track.
The tire, defying gravity, flew above the outer fencing, heading straight towards the grandstand in Turn 2.
The scene was terrifying as spectators held their breath, fearing the worst. In a response to the safety hazard, race officials immediately waved a red flag, bringing the race to a halt.
Thankfully, the tire narrowly missed the crowd, sparing them from potential harm. Nick Criser, an eyewitness, confirmed the fortunate outcome.
