Semitruck Trailer Tire Mishap Injures A Passenger

Latest News – In a recent incident on Iowa’s Interstate 80, a passenger sustained minor injuries when the tires of a semitruck’s trailer unexpectedly detached. The incident occurred in Adair County due to an equipment malfunction, as reported by the Iowa State Patrol.

Two tires, part of the eastbound truck’s trailer, broke loose and rolled across the adjacent eastbound lanes. One of these tires collided with the cable barrier on I-80 before rebounding into the westbound lanes, ultimately landing on a Honda Accord occupied by a driver and a passenger, as detailed in the state patrol report.

Regrettably, the tire inflicted significant damage to the passenger side of the vehicle, including the roof and windshield. The injured passenger, a 25-year-old individual hailing from Nebraska, required medical transport for the treatment of minor injuries sustained from the tire’s impact.

Following the incident, both the trailer and the affected car were towed from the scene. The truck responsible for the mishap, affiliated with C&A Transport based in Waterloo, was cited by the state patrol for non-compliance with safety regulations.
